Plate and Placard Fees
Payment Information
Please adhere to the following guidelines when mailing a payment (unless other instructions are on the form/application being submitted):
- All payments must be for the correct amount.
- Payment must be made in U.S. Funds only.
- Submit a check or money order (do not send cash) payable to: Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Payment by “bad check” will result in additional fee assessment of $20.00.

Intransit Plate/Permit
Intransit Plate/Permit: $5.00
Replacement Plates and Placards
State, Municipal, Fire Department, & Rescue Organizations $7.00 per plate
All other plates: $10.00 per plate
Handicap Parking Placards: Free
Special/Optional Plate or Placard Fees
Building Bright Futures - Autos & trucks less than 26,001 lbs. - Additional $20.00 fee annually
Conservation Plate - Autos & trucks less than 26,001 lbs. - Additional $23.00 fee annually
Disabled Parking Placard - Free
Disabled Parking Plate - No additional fee
Safety/Service Organization Plate - Auto & trucks less than 26,001 lbs. (Vermont Ambulance Association [EMS], Firefighter, National Guard, Amateur Radio Operator, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, VFW, Rotary, Lion's Club, Free Masons). Organization must pay a deposit of $2,000.00. - Additional one-time fee of $15.00
Vanity (Personalized) Plate - Additional $45.00 fee annually
U.S. Veteran's Plates - Autos & trucks less than 26,001 lbs. (Ex-POW, Purple Heart, Gold Star, VT Pearl Harbor Survivor, U.S. Veteran) - No additional fee
