All holders of a Vermont Ignition Interlock Restricted License (RDL) or Ignition Interlock Certificate (IIC) must have a camera-equipped ignition interlock device installed in the vehicle. When contacting an installer (or the manufacturer), you must inform them that Vermont requires a camera-equipped device. If you do not have a camera-equipped device, you will not be allowed to drive the vehicle until a camera-equipped device is installed.
Some manufacturers may refer you to an installer located outside of Vermont. If you wish to obtain their ignition interlock device, it is acceptable for you to use an out-of-state installer.
Holders of an RDL are responsible for all costs associated with an ignition interlock device. These costs may include: installation, purchasing or leasing, removal, calibrating, data retrieval, servicing and any other fees charged by the installer/manufacturer. Costs are determined by each individual installer or manufacturer.
Recipients of 3SquaresVT, LIHEAP, Reach Up benefits or like benefits from another state are eligible for a 50% reduction in the cost of installation, maintenance, and removal of ignition interlock devices. Contact manufacturer for more information.
