Truth In Mileage Act

All Vermont titles issued after July 1, 1990 must conform with the Federal Truth in Mileage Act.

For each reassignment of ownership, a space will be provided for the Odometer Statement and both the seller's and buyer's signatures. If there are additional reassignments of ownership, these must be on a secure form, "Registered Owner's/Dealer's Reassignment of Title To A Motor Vehicle" which is available from this Department. A separate Odometer Disclosure Statement will no longer be necessary for such "conforming" titles. A title not meeting these regulations (non-conforming title) will be accepted if it contains standard ownership reassignments and bills of sale. A separate Odometer Disclosure Statement will continue to be required for such "non-conforming" titles.

The Odometer Disclosure Statement form (PDF documentPDF, 293.94KB) must be completed in full
