If you are registering your car, motorcycle, motorhome, jitney, motorbus, truck, or trailer (whether purchased in Vermont or out-of-state) for the first time in Vermont you must complete the entire Vermont Motor Vehicle Registration, Tax and Title application (PDF document 424.7KB) and comply with all requirements indicated on the application.

The instructions (PDF document 334.3KB) for completion of the Vermont Motor Vehicle Registration, Tax and Title application will provide you with important details concerning these requirements.

Registration plates are assigned and mailed to you unless you indicate otherwise (for example, if you are obtaining Vanity Plates).
