2019 Click It or Ticket
The period between the Memorial Day and Labor Day holiday weekends has been called the 100 deadliest days of summer, so it is appropriate that Vermont DMV turns our focus to increase visibility regarding highway safety.
This marks the 18th year that Vermont law enforcement has participated in the national Click It or Ticket campaign. During the last seatbelt usage survey in June 2018, it showed Vermont had climbed to a rate of 89.8%, which is great for a state that has only a secondary enforcement law. However, we are still seeing a majority of our fatal crash victims dying without a seatbelt being worn, victims that might very well be still among us if they had been belted. We know that 94% of crashes are the result of improper driving. To this end, Vermont DMV Police will look to correct improper driving habits of drivers operating on Vermont’s highways.
The 2019 Click It or Ticket enforcement period runs from May 20th through June 2nd. Our goal is Zero Deaths so please “Buckle Up” every time.
On May 20th the Agency of Transportation and Department of Motor Vehicles attended the 18th Annual Click It Or Ticket campaign kickoff. Highway safety representatives from Vermont and New York met at the Lake Champlain Bridge connecting Addison, VT with Crown Point, NY.
