Overview

The Motor Vehicle Field Inspector is responsible for investigative and technical fieldwork involving civil and regulatory cases for the Department of Motor Vehicles, specifically related to motor vehicle safety, fraud, vehicle inspections, and vehicle sales. This is a home-based position that will be assigned to the southern counties of Vermont and significant fieldwork is required. The Field Inspector is responsible for performing investigations and coordinating with internal, as well as outside agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. Candidates should be comfortable providing testimony in regulatory hearings, including traffic court. Proficiency with basic computer software technology is required and basic automotive background is preferred. Residency in the following counties is strongly preferred: Orange, Addison, Rutland, Windsor, Windham, and Bennington Counties.
