New Colchester Park and Ride Facility Opens
The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is pleased to announce the opening of a second park and ride facility in Colchester, located on the west side of U.S. Route 2 and 7, across from Hercules Drive and approximately 0.4 miles north of the I-89 Exit 16 interchange.
The facility will be open 24/7 and will provide a place for commuters and travelers to meet and carpool to destinations north and south of Exit 16. The facility consists of 109 parking spaces, three accessible spaces, and two van accessible spaces, for a total of 114 spaces. There are 11 EV1 charging stations located at the base of the street lights and a bus shelter for future transit service.
“The new facility is part of VTrans’ continued effort to provide safe and convenient parking facilities that encourage the consolidation of travelers and the reduction of single occupancy vehicles on Vermont’s roadways,” said Transportation Secretary Joe Flynn.
While current transit service does not stop at this park and ride, the facility has been designed to accommodate future for commuter and bus service by Green Mountain Transit and other providers.
