Learner Permit

CDL Learner Permit

You must have a valid CDL or Commercial Learner’s Permit to drive a commercial motor vehicle.

Teen Drivers

Your decision to obtain a Learner’s Permit or a Junior Driver’s License carries with it, one of life’s greatest social responsibilities. You are committing to: maintaining a safe operating vehicle that meets Vermont’s emissions standards, carrying liability insurance, and always obeying the rules of the road and adopting habits that eliminate driving distractions.

Learner's Permit

If you want to drive in Vermont and you do not have a license, you will have to get a Vermont Learner’s Permit. You must be at least 15 years old to take the test. You must also be a Vermont Resident or a resident of another State enrolled in a Vermont Driver Education & Training.
