Renewals, Transfers & Upgrades
All CDL transactions must be processed in person.
About one month before your Commercial Driver License (CDL) expires you should receive a renewal notice in the mail if we have your most current mailing address. Answer all the questions on the notice, sign it, and bring it to the Customer Services Office closest to you for processing along with the renewal fee.
License Renewal
You should receive a renewal notice by mail approximately 30 days before your driver's license expires. If you do not receive your renewal application, you must complete form #VL-021 (below). All questions on the application must be answered and the form must be signed. Any changes (such as address change) must be indicated on the form.
You may renew by mail if your license photo was taken within the last 4 years and is not a Commercial Driver's License.
