SUMMARY:  U.S. Route 2 in Middlesex by the Montpelier town line was closed for several hours due to a commercial vehicle rollover. The commercial vehicle was fully loaded with road salt. The commercial vehicle lost traction on inclement road conditions and slid off the side of the road. Due to the steep bank by the railroad tracks, the weight of the loaded trailer caused the commercial vehicle to roll onto its side. The driver was entrapped briefly before being extracted through the windshield by emergency personnel on scene. The crash caused disabling serious damage to the truck and trailer. The driver was taken to CVMC for treatment of possible minor injuries. A post-crash inspection of the vehicles revealed that there were no mechanical issues that contributed to the crash.
