SUBJECT: Commercial Motor Vehicle Crash

DATE / TIME OF INCIDENT: July 25, 2024 at approximately 1:10 p.m.

INCIDENT NUMBER: 24MV008128

TYPE OF EVENT(S): Crash

LOCATION OF EVENT(S): 4678 S Main Street, Montgomery, VT

INVESTIGATING INSPECTOR(S): Inspector Lindor

SUMMARY: On July 25, 2024, at approximately 1:10 p.m., Inspector Lindor responded to a single commercial motor vehicle crash with no injuries. The investigation showed that the operator, David Laflin, 58, of Johnson, VT, was operating the commercial motor vehicle while fatigued. The commercial motor vehicle was identified as a white 1996 Freightliner USF-1E with a semi-trailer identified as an aluminum 1996 Fontaine trailer. Laflin fell asleep while operating the commercial motor vehicle, went off the roadway, hit a guide wire for a utility pole, and then struck a tree. Laflin was not transported by emergency medical services, and the vehicle was subsequently removed by Vaillancourt Repairs, LLC.
