SUBJECT: Commercial Motor Vehicle Incident - Fire

DATE / TIME OF INCIDENT: July 15, 2024 at 2:50 p.m.

INCIDENT NUMBER:  24MV007670

TYPE OF EVENT(S):  Tractor trailer fire

LOCATION OF EVENT(S):  Junction of U.S. Route 7 and Greenbush Road in Ferrisburgh

INVESTIGATING INSPECTOR(S):  Lt. Matt Nesto, Insp. Rob Helm, Sgt. Genevieve Paul

SUMMARY:  On 07/15/24 at approximately 2:50 p.m., a tractor trailer unit transporting compressed gas caught fire for unknown reasons and exploded, which caused the fire to spread to a nearby structure. The unidentified driver of the tractor trailer unit sustained injuries and was transported from the scene. Fire crews are on scene working to contain the fires. Additional information will be provided as details become available.

Responding agencies are VT DMV Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Vermont State Police, Vergennes Police, Vergennes Fire Department, Ferrisburgh Fire Department, Monkton Fire Department, Bristol EMS, Shelburn Fire Department, Hinesburg Fire Department, and Green Mountain Power.

ROAD CLOSURE(S): U.S. 7 from Greenbush Road to Dakin Road is closed until further notice.
