SUMMARY: 

On February 27, 2025, at approximately 7:35 a.m., inspectors from DMV Enforcement and Safety responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving a commercial motor vehicle. The commercial vehicle, a tractor trailer, was traveling southbound on I-89 South in St. Albans near MM 109.2 when it lost control due to road conditions and poor visibility. The tractor trailer struck three vehicles, which subsequently caused an additional crash with a fourth vehicle.  

The commercial vehicle was a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia hauling a 2017 Utility Trailer loaded with refrigerated food, owned by US Foods Inc., and operated by Travis Vancour, 28, of Champlain, NY. The other vehicles involved in the crash were a 2015 Jeep Cherokee operated by Dominique Ploof, 31, of St Albans, VT; a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Karol Bonine, 66, of Bloomington, IN; and a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder operated by Shelby Barber, 32, of Swanton, VT. All three vehicles were towed from the scene. A 2024 GMC Sierra operated by Jerry Desotell, 53, of St Albans, VT, was also involved but did not have disabling damage. No injuries were reported during the crash.

DMV was assisted at the scene by Vermont State Police, Georgia Fire Department, TDI Towing, Cota’s Service Station, and Thompsons Towing.
