SUMMARY:  On July 26, 2024, at approximately 10:33 a.m., DMV Enforcement was notified that a tractor trailer hauling 8,000 gallons of gasoline was on fire on VT 11 in Winhall near Bromley Mountain.   The operator, Arnold Craigue, 63, of Claremont, NH, stated that he was travelling east on VT 11 when flames started coming out from under the hood, and he pulled onto the shoulder. Winhall Fire Department arrived on scene within minutes and extinguished the fire before it spread to the trailer. DMV Inspectors conducted a commercial vehicle inspection at the scene. Evidence indicated that the fire started in the forward portion of the engine compartment, but the exact cause could not be determined due to the extensive heat and fire damage. The tractor was a total loss and recovered by Sabil & Sons Towing. The vehicle, a 2017 Freightliner owned by Ryder, was operated by Abenaqui Carriers.
