Public Outreach & Media Inquiries

The Agency of Transportation (AOT) Director of Communications and Public Outreach coordinates the public affairs activities for the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and serves as the lead public information office.

The AOT Director of Communications and Public Outreach is the primary point of contact for news media, organizations, and the general public seeking information about DMV programs, policies, procedures, and services. The Office assists the department on all public affairs and strategic and internal communications matters.

Overview

The Motor Vehicle Field Inspector is a non-sworn investigator assigned to the newly created Business Services Unit within DMV's Enforcement & Safety Division. This home-based position performs field inspections and technical investigations relevant to the civil and regulatory activity for the Department of Motor Vehicles, specifically focusing on laws relevant to licensed motor vehicle inspection stations, mechanics, and dealerships, as well as other motor vehicle-related fraudulent activity.

Candidates should be comfortable giving testimony in regulatory hearings, including in traffic court. Proficiency with basic computer software technology is necessary for success in this position.

This position is home-based, but significant fieldwork is required.

A background in automotive diagnostics/repair or dealership processes is preferred.
