The first registration or validation of a motorboat/personal watercraft/shuttlecraft (boat) in Vermont is subject to the sales tax unless :
Multiple Owners on Registration/Title Authorization
To indicate more than two (2) owners for the vehicle/vessel/ATV/Snowmobile as registered and/or titled owners.
Motorboat Application
To apply for registration as new, transfer, renew, or title only on a motorboat.
Off-Road Vehicle Title
Vermont titles vehicles (including Motorboats, ATVs, and snowmobiles) that are 15 years old or newer based on the calendar year. For example, from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024, Vermont will title vehicles (including Motorboats, ATVs, and snowmobiles) with the model year 2010 or newer.
